Lewis Steadman Jr. is a partner in the Intellectual Property Department of Wildman Harrold. Lewis's practice comprises all aspects of trademark, copyright, patent, trade dress, trade secret, unfair competition and licensing law. He has prosecuted and litigated numerous matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and federal courts. He regularly manages domestic and international IP portfolios for leading multi-national companies and also advises clients on issues such as work-for-hire and publicity agreements.

Representative Experience:

Obtained trademark registration on the shape of the old Chicago Stadium and obtained a preliminary injunction prohibiting a former Chicago professional athlete and his business partner from promoting a restaurant as “The Stadium,”
Represented the City of Chicago in an action against the Milwaukee Airport Authority regarding its use of “Chicago’s Third Airport” to Market Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. Using an extensive consumer survey, the City of Chicago was able to show that Milwaukee’s airport authority was unable to show that Mitchell Airport had acquired secondary meaning in the designation “Chicago’s Third Airport”. As a result, Milwaukee abandoned its use and attempted registration of “Chicago’s Third Airport.”
Obtained summary judgment on behalf of defendant, a Scots medical technology company alleged to have breached a technology license and other intellectual property agreements, in the U.S. District Court for Northern District of Illinois.
