Wildman Harrold Continues L.A. Growth with Three Partners from Dreier Stein
Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon LLP is pleased to announce that John L. Babala, Gregory L. Rovenger, and Edward T. Schultz have joined the firm’s Business Transactions Department as partners in its Los Angeles office.
All three were formerly partners with Dreier Stein Kahan Browne Woods George LLP and have strong corporate and transactional practices, including deep experience in the area of private equity. Their addition to the firm continues Wildman Harrold’s expansion into the Los Angeles market, which has been led by its work on behalf of the entertainment and digital media industries.
“These are three highly skilled and sought after corporate attorneys who complement our media and entertainment practice as well as our national M&A, private equity and corporate transactions practices,” said M. Kenneth Suddleson, head of Wildman Harrold’s L.A. office. "This growth, and our commitment to the Los Angeles market, will only further enhance the services we offer to clients, both on the west coast and nationally.”
Wildman Harrold launched its L.A. office with seven lawyers just six months ago, on August 1, 2008. The addition of Babala, Rovenger, and Schultz bring the firm’s L.A. headcount to thirteen, building on a powerful contingent of business transactions, entertainment and new media lawyers in L.A. and Chicago.
John L. Babala focuses his practice on domestic and international acquisitions and dispositions, private equity investments (for companies and funds), offerings of debt and equity securities (including SEC compliance), and restructurings and financings. He acts as outside general counsel to public and private companies in a variety of industries and regularly represents private equity sponsors, as well as their portfolio companies, in a wide range of corporate, securities law and corporate governance matters. In addition, John represents borrowers, lenders, placement agents and underwriters in corporate finance and capital markets transactions. He holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. from Alma College.
Gregory L. Rovenger counsels clients in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity, general corporate and real estate transactions, and income tax planning. His representative matters include working on the sale of a 50 percent interest in the largest Spanish-language daily newspaper in the U.S., and the sale, acquisition and development of several hotel and casino properties in Las Vegas. Rovenger also represents a large charitable foundation which provides educational assistance to underprivileged children. He holds an LL.M. from New York University, a J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of the Law and a B.S from San Diego State University.
Edward T. Schultz practices in the areas of corporate law, securities law and corporate finance. In addition to having extensive experience representing companies in complex M&A and financing transactions, Schultz has represented private equity firms in connection with matters involving various consumer products, technology and new media companies. He holds a J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law and a B.A. from Depauw University.
