Wildman Harrold Partner Nancy Derwin-Weiss Named Among The Hollywood Reporter’s “Power 100” Lawyers for Second Consecutive Year

Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon LLP is pleased to announce that for the second consecutive year, The Hollywood Reporter has named Los Angeles Partner Nancy Derwin-Weiss to its “Power 100” list, which recognizes the 100 most influential entertainment lawyers in America. Derwin-Weiss and her fellow 2010 honorees are recognized in the publication’s July 16 “Power Lawyers” issue.

In recognizing Derwin-Weiss, The Hollywood Reporter lauded her for “helping Summit [Entertainment LLC] market the “The Twilight Saga” movies so aggressively. The ubiquitous campaign includes sweepstakes, co-promotions, iPhone apps, Facebook and Twitter contests, all of which must be monitored for legal issues.” It also recognizes Wildman Harrold and its Media & Entertainment practice as “marketing counsel to most of the major studios.”

“Nancy has an outstanding reputation among clients and peers in the entertainment industry and her work over the past year with Summit and other major studios served to further enhance her already excellent profile,” said John S. Letchinger, chair of Wildman Harrold’s Intellectual Property Department. “She is at the forefront of law in helping movie studios and content producers navigate the risks and fully leverage the opportunities associated with digital media, marketing and promotions. This recognition by The Hollywood Reporter is an elite honor for Nancy and the entire Media and Entertainment practice.”

Derwin-Weiss has practiced new media and Internet law since the early 1990s, first in private practice and then at Paramount Pictures Corporation from 2000-2006. She was in charge of legal and business affairs for Paramount Digital Entertainment Inc., a division charged with exploiting content on new media platforms. She was also the first Vice President of Legal for the Interactive Marketing division, which handles online marketing for Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures and Animation.

Derwin-Weiss received her J.D. from Loyola Law School (Los Angeles) in 1990, and her B.A. from UCLA in 1986.
