Alison C. Conlon
Alison Conlon is a partner in the Litigation Department of Wildman Harrold. She represents clients in a wide range of commercial and tort matters. She has tried cases to resolution in state court, administrative tribunals, and arbitration and has presented and prevailed on a wide variety of motions in federal and state courts. Alison also maintains an active practice counseling clients on distribution channel issues in all 50 states to help clients avoid litigation. Her practice includes such national and international clients as Schneider Electric/Square D, Honeywell International, and CNA. Alison maintains an active pro bono practice and recently served as Chairperson of the firm’s Associates Committee. She has also been appointed to serve on the Northern District of Illinois Local Rules Committee.
Representative Experience:
- Won a commercial arbitration award on behalf of a Fortune 500 company against a distributor who claimed wrongful termination and sought more than $66 million in damages. After a four-day evidentiary proceeding, the arbitrator found our client not liable and held the distributor liable for trademark infringement.
- Won a commercial arbitration award on behalf of a Fortune 500 company against a distributor who asserted antitrust, deceptive practices, and wrongful termination claims. The claimant sought more than $10 million in damages. After a multi-week evidentiary proceeding, the claimant was awarded nothing and ordered to pay all arbitration costs.
- Successfully defended large class action suits in multiple states brought against a Fortune 100 company alleging air, water, and groundwater contamination by TCE, PCE, and vinyl chloride
- Currently defending a manufacturing company in a lawsuit where more than 1,000 individual plaintiffs allege personal injuries, property value diminution, and IQ decrement arising out of lead dust emissions from the operation of a smelter in Detroit, Michigan
- Currently defending an insurer in multiple consumer fraud and contract actions where policy holders allege they were misled about the terms of policies presented by a former agent
- Currently representing a Fortune 100 company in the welding rod multi-district litigation
- Successfully negotiated settlements on behalf of a municipality in a lawsuit alleging violation of the First Amendment and due process rights of police officers who claimed they were wrongfully terminated in retaliation for supporting the incumbent mayor’s opponent in the previous election
- Won on a motion to dismiss a Voting Rights Act claim brought by a disgruntled resident regarding a proposed referendum
- Won a pro bono contested probate hearing on behalf of a paternal uncle seeking guardianship of his four-year-old niece whose parents were killed by a drunk driver
- Currently representing, pro bono, a client who alleges that she was terminated based on her disability in violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act
