Our first event of the summer was a dinner at Shaw's Crab House to introduce our summer associates to their mentoring team consisting of two "big siblings" and a writing coach. The evening started with a lively sushi preparation demonstration by Sushi Chef Naoki Nakasima.

Summer Associates posing with the Chicago skyline

Our next event of 2008 was a guided bike tour through the streets of Chicago. The summer associates were taken on a long journey from Lake Shore Drive to some of the city's great historical landmarks. As one of the first events of the summer, the tour served as a great opportunity for the summer class to get to know one another.

The 2008 Summer Associates, joined by Wildman Harrold attorneys, associates and employees, teamed with Habitat for Humanity in a day-long project to help build a home in Chicago's Archer Heights neighborhood. Internationally, Habitat has built more than 250,000 houses, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, affordable shelter. This year's summer class contributed their enthusiasm and hard work by installing outdoor siding and drywall for the ceiling.

The Wildman Habitat Team

One of the most popular events of the summer is our annual bowling party. This year's bowling party was held at 10Pin Bowling Lounge on State Street. Open to all Wildman Harrold personnel, 25 teams competed against each other, and the top 13 teams of the night moved on to the Big Bowl Off, with prize money awarded to the top four teams. We are proud to announce that a team of summer associates, "Slim Pickens," took First Place in 2008.

The winning team, Slim Pickens, Bill Daly, Paul Thompson, Miguel Harvey, Ben Prinsen, and Anthony Debre

Other events include a Welcome Reception at Martini Park, a trip to Toyota Park to see the Dave Matthews Band, a dinner with our junior associates at Mercat a la Planxa, a Negotiation Workshop with Lynn Cohn, a Boat Cruise, a dinner with Managing Partner Bob Shuftan at Zocalo, a dinner at the home of summer czar John Roberts, a Cubs game, and a theatre night to see Steppenwolf's production of Superior Donuts.
