Our first event of the summer was a dinner at Adobo Grill in Wicker Park to introduce our summer associates to their mentoring team consisting of two big "siblings" (a partner and associate mentor) and a writing coach.
2009 Summer Associates
Our next event of 2009 was a guided bike tour through the streets of Chicago. The summer associates were taken on a journey from Lake Shore Drive to some of the city's great historical landmarks. As one of the first events of the summer, the tour served as a great opportunity for the summer class to get to know one another.
The winning team: Jeff Stevenson, Miguel Harvey, Ben Prinsen, Paul Thompson and Anthony Debre.
One of the most popular events of the summer is our annual bowling party. This year's bowling party was held at 10Pin Bowling Lounge on State Street. Open to all Wildman Harrold personnel, 23 teams competed against each other, and the top 12 teams of the night moved on to the Big Bowl Off, with prize money awarded to the top four teams. We are proud to announce that a team of summer associates, "Slim Pickens," took First Place in 2008 and 2009!
The 2009 Summer Associates, joined by Wildman Harrold partners and associates, also teamed with Habitat for Humanity in a day-long project to help build a home on Chicago's South Side. Internationally, Habitat has built more than 250,000 houses, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, affordable shelter.
LA attorneys and summer associates enjoyed a cooking class at Hipcooks West. Other events included a Welcome Reception, a dinner with our junior associates, a Negotiation Workshop with Lynn Cohn and other training programs, dinner with Managing Partner Bob Shuftan, a dinner at the home of summer czar John Roberts, a Cubs game, and a tour of the federal courthouse. In the California office, highlights included a wine and cheese tasting, a Dodgers outing, a cooking class and a studio tour.
